What is your energy level like today? Are you fired up and inspired to take on the challenges of in front of you? Or are feeling beat up and dragging, barely able to show up how you want to.

In my coaching practice, I tend to look for 3 things in every conversation.

  1. Do you have the right energy?
  2. Is there clarity on where you’re going?
  3. Are you focused on the task at hand to get you there?

A lot of times clarity and focus are present, but there is no energy or the wrong energy with that individual. I’ve got news for you, nothing great happens in this life when it starts with the wrong energy.

So today I’ll ask the question.

What are you doing right now to take care of you? What are you doing to feed your spirit and recharge your battery with the right energy? Think about it logically. If you aren’t in the right space, completely energized and where you need to be, then what good are you to those people you claim to care about and those goals and objectives you plan to accomplish moving forward.

Here’s a statement that might sound strange to you.

Self-Care Is Not Selfish.

I know that many of you put your own needs at the bottom of the list when it comes to supporting your teams and your families because that’s who you are. Yet if you aren’t where you need to be with your own level of energy, then are they really getting the best of you. Is that truly what you want?

If you really care for these people, then allow them to experience 100% of what you have to offer. It’s ok to put yourself at the top of the list every once in while, recharge and re-energize so that those you care about get the very best of you, not just what’s leftover at the bottom of the barrel.

By the way, your teams and your families will do what you do, not what you say so do you really what these people to always put their own needs behind everyone else’s.
