Have you ever thought about what makes the perfect enemy? This is the one being that knows exactly how to defeat the hero. If you are a fan of Marvel or DC Comics, then you are well versed in what it takes to create the perfect enemy. How these super villains have grown an evolved over the years and have come to possess the knowledge and power that our superheroes seem incapable of defeating.
All the greatest Superheroes have a weakness. As the saying goes even Superman has his Kryptonite, and of course Lois Lane.
Have you ever thought about who could be your perfect enemy? This is the person that knows you inside and out. They are fully aware of all your flaws and imperfections and willing to exploit them at any given moment. This person understands exactly what to do or say that will render you powerless, throw you off your game, and destroy any chance you have of success.
Just like in the comic books, this person thwarts all your efforts to bring truth and justice into the world. They are the obstacle that constantly confronts you at every turn. Just when you think you defeated this enemy, they rise almost out of nowhere and keep you from achieving your desired outcome.
In case you haven’t already figured out who this perfect enemy is I will break the news to you:
It’s YOU.
The person that looks you the mirror every day is the hero of your story, but also your perfect enemy. As the hero, you are going to have days when you aren’t feeling very heroic and that’s when your enemy can take you by surprise and oppose all your efforts to live your true authentic self and be the person you stive to be.
This enemy knows all the right words and phrases to say to you that create the limiting beliefs and self-doubt to keep you in your comfort zone and build the barriers to make sure you never leave it.
The good news is because you know this enemy so well, mostly since you’ve been fighting it for many decades, you probably also know how to defeat this perfect enemy. Call on your own superpower. You know who I’m talking about. The achiever that lives in you, the person that has accomplished all of those amazing things in your life up till now. Use that person when confronted by the enemy and allow them to fight the battle for you.
If you still find yourself struggling to defeat this perfect enemy enlist the help of your superhero network. Just like the Avengers or the Justice League, these are the people in your life that you can rely on for support and positivity. This network will provide you with the strength and the will to fight your own Infinity War and ultimately achieve your Endgame.
Even superheroes need help every once in a while, and to defeat your perfect enemy consistently you need your own Super Friends of support to play and win at the highest levels.
Today, identify your own perfect enemy. Label them if you must, prepare for what this enemy says to you when you are feeling your most vulnerable and create a strategy to confront this enemy the next time they decide to try and thwart your efforts. Remember, even Superman has his Kryptonite, so make sure your hero is ready when your own personal perfect enemy shows up at your door.
