Memorial day has come and gone and for me that always been the official kick off of summer. There is something about summer that just invokes a feeling of freedom and that anything is possible. I wish I could somehow bottle up that feeling and keep it with me everyday of the year, but since I haven’t figured out the formula to do so I’m just going to have to enjoy it here in the moment.
This month I’m going to encourage you to do the same. Summer is a gift that we get for an incredible 3 months every year, what are you going to do with that gift? Where are going to spend it, and with whom?
I know that you have been working your ##### off for the since the year started and now you deserve to go out and spoil yourself and the ones you love.
This week pull out your calendar and figure out when you are going to the Lake, the cabin, the beach, the golf course, the city, the state, the campground, the national park, and more importantly who are you going to bring along to share it with you.
Decide when you are going to visit that old friend or relative of yours that you have been putting off because you just haven’t have the time? Pack up the car or the SUV and head out on an adventure, hit that amusement park (just like Clark Griswald) fire up that barbecue and show someone special why you are the “king or queen of the coals” build that bonfire really high and make sure you have plenty of marshmallow, graham crackers and Hershey Bars.
Those of you that have little ones, please remember there are only so many years that these amazing people are going to WANT to spend this kind of time with you, so don’t waste it.
You’ve earned this and you deserve this, and I’m certain you need it. Time to power down that computer, shut off the electronic tether you have in your pocket and unplug from the Matrix for a few days. Re-energize yourself doing something love so you can get back to your job and fight the good fight. I promise you that your business, and those unread emails jamming up your inbox will still be there when you get back.
Yes I really do love the Summer and the bonus for me is when it’s over, I’ve Got my beloved Michigan Wolverines to keep me company every football Saturday during the fall.
What are you going to do this summer to make an amazing memory?
